Membership Committee

Opportunity Overview

Join a team responsible for recruitment and retention of new and current members. The membership committee supports membership initiatives in the following ways:
  • Promotes membership with the ASTD-NEFL Chapter to prospective members.

  • Assists with brainstorming, planning, and implementing new member and recruitment initiatives to grow chapter and national membership.

  • Follows up with lapsed members to seek feedback on membership value and encourages rejoining in the future.

  • Connects with ASTD National members in the area and shares the benefits of joining the local ASTD-NEFL Chapter.


What you will be doing as a volunteer:

  • Student Membership Outreach

  • Help promote and grow student membership outreach efforts. Responsibilities involve researching how to target students, liaising with various universities and student organizations, and helping to develop student outreach campaigns.


Desired strengths / Interests of volunteer:
  • Enthusiasm, ability to take initiative and some marketing experience preferred.


Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 4-6 hours per month.

The Sponsorship Committee

Opportunity Overview

  • Secure organizational sponsorships for monthly local Chapter, eSIG, and CMSIG meetings.
  • Assist the other ASTD committees by securing sponsors for the annual ASTD Big Event.

What you will be doing as a volunteer

  • Via phone calls and/or email communication, you will reach out to offer Jacksonville businesses, organizations, and corporations the opportunity to showcase their business to  learning professionals who make training, learning and development, and HR purchasing decisions.
  • This is a relationship building opportunity. As such, occasional follow-up may be necessary to nurture the relationship building cycle.

  • Likes to have fun while contributing to the greater good

Time Commitment
 
  • Average 4-6 hours per month

Additional Information

  • We are offering individuals the opportunity to join us for a 4 month period to experience what it will be like to serve on the committee. After March 31st, while we trust it will be a win-win for both parties, you have the option to part ways with no further commitment.
  • We have a proficient repository and organized infrastructure to assist the team to accomplish our goals..

Join a team responsible for planning, organizing, and managing a special event for people interested in eLearning design and Power Point tips.

  • Collaborate with project team members to arrange logistics.
  • Enhance your planning, organization, communication, and project management skills.

A volunteer who has experience in:

  • Planning and organizing events.
  • Working on small teams with volunteers on a short-term project.

The committee position will allow you to:

Help plan, organize, and implement a special learning event for our members and other area professionals.

Project Date:

April 10, 2012. This is a short term position for a special event.

Time commitment:

This position will require approximately 4 hours per month now through April 2012.

eLearning Special Interest Group (eSIG)

Opportunity Overview

Join a team responsible for planning, organizing, and managing eSIG programs. The committee position will allow you to:

  • Brainstorm topics and facilitators or presenters for 10 monthly eLearning programs in 2012.
  • Team up and network with other workplace learning professionals with an interest in eLearning.
  • Enhance your planning, organization, and project management skills.
  • Have fun and make a difference in your professional organization.

A volunteer who has experience in:

  • Planning and organizing events.
  • Working on small teams with volunteers on monthly programs.

The committee position will allow you to:

Brainstorm relevant eLearning related topics and training for our members.

Commitment:

This is an annual position.

Time Commitment:

This position will require approximately 2-4 hours per month to participate.

Member Involvement Committee

Opportunity Overview

  • We are responsible for engaging ASTD-NEFL members who would like to be more involved in the local chapter. We do this by matching them to a project, committee, or role that they are most interested in. We also plan the recognition event to thank all of our ASTD-NEFL Chapter volunteers.

What will you be doing as a volunteer?


  • Welcome and engage members at monthly ASTD-NEFL meetings as needed, plan and implement volunteer opportunities for members and for our chapter, plan/coordinate the Volunteer Appreciation Annual Event, assist in matching members who are interested in volunteering for committees and projects who need volunteers within the chapter.

Desired strengths/Interests of the volunteer

  • This committee is a good fit for someone comfortable engaging and initiating conversations with others, who can meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks, who will attend scheduled committee meetings, contribute to the successful work of the committee by helping plan and coordinate activities, events, and initiatives as needed by the Chapter and its leaders.

Time Commitment

  • 2-3 hours a month - typically.

  • We have openings on this committee for 2 volunteers.
